Payload sounds simple: how much can it carry. But the number includes the rider, and how the weight is carried changes how usable it is.

What the number means
Payload is the total the bike is rated to carry safely, and it usually includes the rider. So a 200 kg rating with a 90 kg rider leaves around 110 kg for gear. Always check whether a quoted figure includes the rider or not, because some do not.
What 200 kg carries in practice
On the Galvbike, 200 kg including rider covers real farm loads: fencing gear, a load of firewood, dog tucker, drenches, sacks, tools, or the dog that has decided it is done walking. A big front footwell and a rear deck spread it, rather than a token rack.
Where the weight sits
