The Electric Bike for Conservation and Pest Control
Silent on the trap line, no fumes, no fuel to carry in, and enough payload for a day of gear.
The short version
For conservation and pest control it fits the brief: quiet and low-impact on trap and bait lines, no fumes in enclosed bush, no fuel to carry, and 200 kg of payload for the gear.
Trapping lines, bait stations and predator control mean covering ground quietly, often in sensitive country, day after day.
A petrol bike is loud, smelly and needs fuel carried in. An electric one solves all three.
Quiet and low-impact
No engine noise means less disturbance to wildlife and to the people you share the block with. On a trap round that is the whole point.
It is the reason electric two-wheelers already have a following in conservation work in New Zealand.
No fumes, no fuel to carry
There is nothing to spill in sensitive catchments and no exhaust in enclosed bush. You carry no jerry cans in either, just plug in back at the base.
Carries a day of gear, and lives outside
A 200 kg payload takes traps, bait, tools and a dog. The galvanised frame and sealed motor live outside and cross creeks without complaint, and there is almost nothing to service between rounds.
Commonly asked
Is an electric bike suitable for conservation work?
Yes. Quiet, low-impact running suits trap and bait lines and sensitive country, and there are no fumes or stored fuel. Electric two-wheelers already have a track record in New Zealand conservation.
How far will it cover on the trap line?
Up to 80 km on a charge depending on terrain and load, recharging off a standard socket at the base. Plan long back-country lines around the range.
Does it carry enough gear?
A 200 kg payload including rider covers traps, bait, tools and a dog, with the frame and motor built to live outside and be hosed down.
